Oracle Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition+ Product Overview |
Authors: Barney Finucane A detailed vendor-independent product evaluation Oracle’s ROLAP solution bundles products from the Siebel and Hyperion acquisitions Oracle is the long established leader in the RDBMS market but its ventures into BI territory have been somewhat less successful. From the ill-fated acquisition of IRI Software in 1995 to the now-fading Oracle OLAP Option and Discoverer, it seemed as though Oracle were never going to crack this particular nut. Now, with a bundle of products emanating from the more recent acquisitions of Siebel Systems and Hyperion, the Redwood-based software giant is tackling the BI market anew with OBIEE+. Not to be confused with Oracle BI Suite Standard Edition, which comprises Oracle Discoverer and Reports, this review evaluates OBIEE+ with a special emphasis on three of the former Siebel products included within the suite: Oracle BI Interactive Dashboards - Interactive dashboards Two of the other products in the suite, Hyperion Interactive Reporting and Hyperion SQR Production Reporting are already covered in separate reviews.
